Kyle Larson Dominates Kansas Speedway for Third NASCAR Cup Win
Kyle Larson put on a show at the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Kansas Spring Race, grabbing a big win at Kansas Speedway. He led 221 of the 267 laps in the AdventHealth 400, making it look almost easy at times.
This victory is Larson’s third of the season. He now ties with Christopher Bell for the most wins in the series this year and hits a handful of career milestones.
Kyle Larson’s Commanding Performance
Contents
Starting from the pole, Larson wasted no time taking control. He led most of the race, showing off both his own skill and the sharp setup of his No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.
This win is Larson’s third at Kansas Speedway. He’s now tied with Dale Jarrett for 29th on NASCAR’s all-time wins list, with 32 career victories.
Significant Milestones
Larson’s Kansas win helped him pass 10,000 career laps led—10,073 to be exact. Only Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin have more among active full-timers.
He also swept the first and second stages, bringing his total stage wins to eight this season. That’s a record for the first 12 Cup races of any season. The stage sweep marks the 14th of his career.
Challenges and Triumphs
Larson’s win looked dominant, but he had to work for it. In the final 49-lap green-flag run, he had to nurse his right-side tires and watch his lead shrink.
Christopher Bell closed the gap to just 0.712 seconds at the finish. Ryan Blaney wasn’t far behind either, finishing 0.832 seconds back.
Maintaining Composure
Larson admitted he struggled with grip and some vibrations late in the race. “I was trying really hard to pace myself, because I believe that was our longest run of the day,” he said.
Even with the challenges, Larson kept his cool and held on for the win.
Christopher Bell’s Runner-Up Finish
Christopher Bell finished second in the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. He wasn’t thrilled with how his car felt, though.
“I didn’t feel like we were very good today,” Bell said, pointing out the team’s struggles. Still, he and his crew found a way to stay in the fight.
Team Effort
Bell’s crew nailed it in qualifying and pit stops, helping him snag the runner-up spot. “Everyone fought hard on this Reser’s Camry and got us a good finish,” Bell said.
He remains tied with Larson for the most series wins this season.
Brad Keselowski’s Misfortune
Brad Keselowski can’t seem to catch a break this year. He started strong and looked solid in the final stage, but his No. 6 Ford blew a right-front tire and slammed the wall.
The crash ended his day early, leaving him 37th. Keselowski hasn’t led a lap or scored a top 10 yet this season.
Impact on the Race
Keselowski’s crash gave Larson the opening he needed to retake the lead. Chase Elliott, meanwhile, had his own trouble after a pit stop issue with his right rear tire. That sent him tumbling down the order and he wound up 15th.
Other Notable Performances
Chase Briscoe picked up his fourth fourth-place finish of the year. Alex Bowman hung on for fifth, even after scraping the wall in the final laps.
Ford drivers Josh Berry, Ryan Preece, Chris Buescher, and Joey Logano all landed in the top ten. John Hunter Nemechek rounded out the top ten, making it back-to-back top tens for him on intermediate tracks.
Race Dynamics
The race saw seven cautions, with four coming in the final stage. That added up to 37 laps under yellow.
Chase Elliott led 29 laps, the only driver besides Larson to lead more than four. There were plenty of lead changes and strategic pit stops to keep everyone guessing—and fans on their feet.
Upcoming Races
Next up, the NASCAR Cup Series heads to North Wilkesboro Speedway for the annual NASCAR All-Star Race. It’s the third year in a row for this 250-lap event at the historic track, and it goes down Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
After the All-Star Race, teams will tackle the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 25. That one’s available on Prime Video, PRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
Inspection Results
Officials finished post-race inspection in the Cup Series garage without finding any problems. That means Kyle Larson stands as the official winner of the Kansas Spring Race.
NASCAR will send the Nos. 17 and 77 cars to the R&D Center in Concord, North Carolina for a closer look. Maybe they’ll find something interesting, but for now, everything checks out.
